How To Identify Your Pool Table Slate
Pool tables with three-piece slates are the most common kind of table found in the United States. Some older tables have 1-piece slates, and they’re mostly from from brands like California Billiards or Empire.
To find out if your pool table has a 3-piece slate or a 1-piece slate, position yourself directly in front of the center pocket on your table.
Stick out your finger and move it to the left of the center pocket, centering between the two diamonds / rail markers.
Check underneath your table in the area where you were just pointing. If there is a gap or seam, then you table has a 3-piece slate.
If your pool table has no obvious gaps/ seams in the area indicated, it’s probable that you have a 1-piece-slate pool table.
1-piece-slate pool tables are easily recognized by their wood paneling. The legs on a one-piece table will likely be similar to the table pictured above.
